Audi A6 C6 Front Camera Installation with Signal Splitter
Upgrade your Audi A6 C6 with a DIY front camera installation using a 4-in-1 video signal splitter and an Android head unit. Though not originally supported, it's easy to add front, side, and reverse cameras with this setup.
Parts used:
- Android Head Unit: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oErW5XZ
- Reverse camera: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oEi7QST
- 4-in-1 video splitter: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oDSHCEL
- Side cameras: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oEt4U0f
- Front camera: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_opzeIsr
Splitter setup:
- Video output → Android HU video input (RCA)
- “REVERSE” trigger wire → steering cable from splitter
Relay wiring for front camera (triggered by brake lights):
- 30: +12V from fusebox
- 86: Ground
- 85: Brake light signal (red/yellow for LED lights)
- 87: Power to front camera
Power:
- Splitter gets ACC power from the driver-side fuse box.
Notes:
Because reverse camera shown a mirrored view after connecting front camera through splitter I got mirrored view (left and right). I had to replace the rear camera with one that can toggle mirror mode by cutting a wire.
Android radio applies mirror/parking line settings to all cameras, so I have turned off parking lines.
Planned upgrade: Add a NE555 time delay relay to keep front cam active for N seconds after brake release.
Perfect DIY project for enhancing safety and convenience on your Audi A6 C6!
