Audi A6 C6 Front Door Sound Deadening Guide | DIY Soundproofing
Want to make your Audi A6 C6 quieter and more refined? This DIY sound deadening tutorial walks you through insulating the front doors with alubutyl mats and foam to reduce road noise and improve audio quality. This easy mod provides a more premium feel, increases driving comfort, and enhances speaker performance.
💡 Important Safety Note:
Do not cover or clog the water drains inside the door, as this can lead to rust and corrosion.
🛠️ Tools & Materials Used:
- Alubutyl mats (e.g., STP Silver 1.8mm and 2.5mm)
- Acoustic foam sheets (e.g., 6mm and 25mm)
- Application roller
- Utility knife and measuring tape
- Protective gloves (door panel edges are sharp)
🚗 Step-by-Step Process:
- Remove the front door panel (see my other video for a guide on this).
- Clean the inner metal surface and degrease it with isopropyl alcohol.
- Apply alubutyl mats to the sheet metal to reduce vibration.
- Fill larger open spaces with 25mm foam, being careful not to overstuff.
- Use 6mm foam for tighter areas to ensure the door panel fits back on.
- Carefully reassemble the door panel.
💡 Pro Tips:
- Avoid over-padding, which can prevent the door panel from fitting correctly.
- Always wear gloves, as the metal edges inside the door are sharp.
- Plan your foam layout before applying it.
