DIY Reverse Camera Installation for Audi A6 C6

This guide shows how to install a non-OEM reverse camera in your Audi A6 C6 and integrate it with an Android head unit, including proper wiring with a relay for cars with LED tail lights.

📦 Parts & Tools Needed:

• Reverse Camera with Trunk Handle: example link
• Android Head Unit: example link
• Video signal filter (improves image quality)
• For LED tail lights: 12V 30/40A relay and fuse
• Basic tools: Torx T25, 10mm socket, upholstery removal tools, wire crimper

💡 Relay Wiring for Cars with LED Tail Lights:

LED reverse lights provide a pulsed, low-voltage signal (0.4-0.7V) that cannot power a camera directly. A relay is required to provide a stable +12V.

• Pin 30: +12V from battery or fuse box
• Pin 86: Ground
• Pin 85: Reverse light signal wire (green with yellow stripe in my car)
• Pin 87: +12V power to camera

⚠️ Tip: Wire tap connectors can be unreliable. Soldering the connection to the reverse light signal is highly recommended.

🎥 Android Head Unit Integration:

• Connect the camera's RCA video cable to the head unit's camera input.
• Enable the auto-reverse view feature in your Android head unit's settings.
